Winter 2013 Trends- working them with jewellery

The cold snap is upon us and it’s time to rock our favourite looks for the season- and as always, navigate the tricky waters that are combining heavier winter wear with your favourite jewellery.
We’ve put together a quick guide of our favourite trends for the upcoming months and how we think best to wear your designer jewellery with them. After all, we want you to be able to enjoy your jewellery as often as possible!

Punk/Tartan

We can’t hide our excitement that Punk has graced the capital scenes for this Autumn/Winter. Punk allows a lot of versatility when it comes to jewellery- edgy, bold pieces with lots of colour, hard lines and contemporary shapes.

This year, designers have focused in particular on Tartan motifs- leather or black rhodium jewellery work best with the colours here, depending on how ‘punk’ you want to go. Grab your largest cocktail ring (or rings!) and don’t be afraid to mix and match the designs here- the contrast makes for an even better rock image. We’re going for some of our Tomasz Donocik jewellery- what a combination!

Pastel Pinks

How we all love to look dainty on a crisp winter’s evening. And pastel pink is pretty much the best way to achieve this look. We’ve seen it applied to a variety of cuts, including a lot of 60s-themed outfits, and love how this dusty colour works so well with low winter lighting.

Silver is the best colour to work with the delicate pinks of this season- we feel that silver jewellery provides a more neutral addition to the pastels- but don’t be afraid to add singular colour splashes with some beautiful stones. A lot of the cuts used this season will work well with longer pendants, such as our Alex Davis fine jewellery collection.

Dogtooth

We can’t get enough of the classic motif, this year re-worked to create some bolder, louder patterns. Particularly in the heavier fabrics, the Dogtooth is a pretty addition to any outfit and is simply gorgeous on those frosty winter mornings.

Go for fine, silver jewellery pieces with some sparkling stones when donning one of these outfits. We find a delicate addition to a bolder outfit is a perfect compliment- it won’t clash or distract from the main fabric but the sparkle from the stones adds a beautiful finishing touch. Try our fine collection- it works wonders!

The Fluted Skirt

We’ve got an adjusted take on the classic pencil skirt for this Christmas season. We can rejoice at this year’s fluted skirt- slimming credentials on our figure whilst not as restricting around our legs- we can look classy and comfortable!

Colder weather allows us to go for some heavier fabrics too- so mix this with some bold, statement bangles and cuffs. Visually eye-catching silver and gold pieces on your wrist help balance the full-body, heavier fabrics of the skirt. A striking combination- our No.8 or Chunky collection work well with this.

There’s so many exciting styles and trends out there for this season that it’s impossible not to find one that works for you- just make sure you get the most out of every outfit by adding  that luxury touch with your jewellery- we want you to get the most out of it!
