A Gem of a Watch – Our Favourite Gemstone Designer Watches

Whilst Apple and Microsoft launch their new smart watches, we take a look at some of the most beautiful gemstone designer watches on the market. These watches span through various timelines and their gemstones and artwork make them invaluable for year to come. Some of our favourite watches include the following:

Bulgari Astrale

Bulgari, a watch and gemstone specialist was founded by Sotirios Voulgaris in 1884 and now owned by LMVH launched the Astrale watch this year with a combination of  brilliant cut diamonds and coloured gemstones, set in a back dial and a  36 mm 18-ct yellow gold curved case.

Chanel, never one to disappoint also a L&G favourite have made creating watches into an art form. This striking diamond watch is living proof of their superior technical mastery. “Lion Mosaïque” is a true painting in gemstones with white gold and diamonds,  it features a lion’s head seen in three-quarter view. The dial is paved in diamonds and the designer watch is set with baguette-cut diamonds which brings the diamond watch to life, it fully expresses the breadth and extent of Chanels’s creativity – art in a watch.

Harry Winston Diamond watch with hood
Harry Winston which was founded in 1932, is amongst one of the most famous jewellers in the word. In the hit song  "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" – it includes the words "Talk to me, Harry Winston, tell me all about it!". This year THE Emerald Signature ladies watch made the short list of the GPHG. This beautifully designed diamond and gemstone designer watch named  the ‘Ultimate Emerald Signature’ embraces the fine diamond heritage of the Winston family featuring 192 brilliant-cut diamonds, 38 baguette-cut diamonds, 24 marquise-cut diamonds with, and a single 1-carat emerald-cut diamond placed at its centre. More than 100 hours were required to hand-set this exceptional creation – A rare diamond work of art.

Finally, Piaget is a watch maker who have created some of the finest watches in the world –  and this one consists of 20 baguette cut diamonds (approx. 1.1 ct) which are set within the face of the watch and 454 baguette cut diamonds which are individually set with in a 18k white gold strap -  A true masterpiece of a designer diamond watch.

Dazzling in Diamonds - GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2014

The GQ Awards is a fantastic combination of acknowledging the most talented men in the industry and inviting the most stunning female fashion icons to present the awards. This year when Rita Ora emerged on the red carpet for the GQ Men Of The Year Awards at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden in London on Tuesday the star momentarily stole the show. Rita wore a stand out couture gown and radiated sparkles as she was draped in diamonds by Vashi Dominguez. This included a diamond collection of: a tennis bracelet made from a string of 50 carat emerald-cut diamonds, a 10 carat diamond cocktail ring, and a pair of 15 carat diamond drop earrings.

Nicole Scherzinger who attended with her boyfriend Lewis Hamilton, also looked stunning in a strapless cream dress complimented by the most intricately cut diamond cuff bracelet and rings which were lent to her by Cartier.

Russel Brand, not to be outdone by the ladies, also appeared in true style wearing a black onyx necklace – there is an increasing trend of men wearing jewellery although most men at the awards were dressed in black tie.

How we select our trends that inspire our jewellery collections

Inspiration is all around us and we get inspiration from all walks of life. Each collection follows a different theme but some of our favourites this season are the Exotic Glam and Jungle Trends. The Exotic Glam collection was inspired by South American foliage with its bright Amazonian colours and vibrant textures and shapes. It is also one of the key trends this year.

Exotic Glam Collection – www.logoandgalago.com

Jungle fever is also hot on our list and the ‘ Garden of Stones’ is one of our most stunning and beautiful collections.

Later this year florals, lilac and purple will be a colour which will be hot on the fashion scene. Animal Prints and patterns are one of the key trends for the summer season and have been seen on the runways of all the top designers and on the high street. The Garden of Stones collection compliments this style with its bright colours which can be worn alone or stacked with other rings.

One of the key colours which should be in everyone’s wardrobe this season and inspired by the blankets of purple found in the deepest darkest forests is the colour lilac/purple.

We have incorporated this colour in our jewellery collections with the deep purple amethyst stones.

Next year’s trends focus more of digital and futuristic shapes where technology is used to enhance nature; improving and healing and we will focus on sci-fi colours and high tech imagery - scientific innovation, the challenge to break boundaries.

Tropicana – Next year’s designs will take inspiration from the Tropics with bursts of bright colours and prints. Highlighted patterns which centre around palm trees, pineapples, paradise and tropical motifs will be the rage. In terms of textures materials such as silk satin to printed chiffon will be used to add another dimension and more elaborate expressions featuring beading or 3D imagery will be seen on the runways.

Behind the Scenes: L&G 2014 Spring and Summer Shoots

Lolo and Galago is just a few weeks away from launching our designer jewellery- and our incredible photos- so we just had to share the fun and excitement we had behind the camera at our latest shoot in London.

Shooting for our launch campaigns, we found ourselves at Studio 9: a gorgeous, contemporary London location that used to be a school. But far from carrying out any maths lessons, Lolo & Galago converted the studio... into our very own Jungle Boutique!

Model Anastasia enjoys exploring our very own designer jungle

500kg of exotic plants later and after working hard to create our own little piece of paradise thanks to Palmbrokers, our excited models donned some gorgeous dresses from the likes of Forever Unique to bring a contemporary and fashionable look to our exotic jungle.

Model Roisin looks stunning in the Photoshoot’s carefully selected garments

We wanted to combine the international and exotic flavour of Lolo and Galago with a contemporary, designer feel- a task our creative director, Martin Lear, was assigned. Over 3,000 photos were taken over two days, using contemporary interior design combined with our designer jewellery to make sure we got exactly the looks we wanted.

Our wardrobes were bursting with incredible dresses, tops and shoes all provided by our fantastic stylist Pash from Style Creative, whilst makeup artist Maya made sure our models looked gorgeous with the fantastic looks she created- 2 suitcases worth of cosmetics were needed!

Good fun was had by all as everyone came together to work hard and deliver a fantastic contemporary, designer look to our London based studio.
Our launch photos will be released soon, when you can see Lolo & Galago’s designer jewellery in its full glory.

Lolo and Galago at the Jewellery Show Birmingham

It’s Jewellery time at the Spring Fair! Once again the annual Jewellery show, held at the incredibly vast NEC in Birmingham, showcases the latest trends in contemporary jewellery along with some fascinating exhibits and displays.

Lolo and Galago attended and were thrilled to meet so many talented up and coming designers, with a beautiful range of silver and gold contemporary jewellery designs. We were treated to a live exhibition by Trollbeads featuring their beads being made, as well as to a breathtaking catwalk of models wearing gorgeous outfits and jewellery.

We were impressed by Kokkino’s enticing Shimmer collection, utilising gold and silver plating to create gorgeous gradient colour, and by Farah Qureshi’s latest designs.

Rachel Galley Unity Trilogy Pendant

Rachel Galley’s launch of her LUXE collection took our breath away- utilising a stunning combination of diamonds with chic architectural lines, she has cleverly crafted three pieces into her statement Unity Trilogy Ring.

Another year draws to a close but as always, we’re excited by what we see. We will continue to draw inspiration from designers and trends around the World and look forward to discovering even more talent next year.

An L&G Christmas

Ladies, a week tomorrow and it’s here- Christmas. After weeks of preparation, we can finally look forward to a day of entertaining guests, cooking dinner, tidying up presents, enduring Christmas cracker jokes...
Maybe we’re being pessimistic, so we’ve put together a feel-good list of the things we all just love at Christmas.

Seeing a crisp, frosty morning out the window and knowing it’s Christmas day

Not feeling guilty about Bailey’s replacing the morning coffee

Distributing presents from under the tree to everyone involved

That unexpected present you just love

Christmas lunch, with stuffing, trimmings, sausages and everything else you love...

Relaxing in front of the fire after lunch

Christmas carols playing over dinner

Games in the evening

Relaxing with the family, warm and cosy, in the evening

We hope you're now feeling the Christmas cheer and spirit. And whatever your family traditions are, we wish you a very merry, L&G Christmas.
