London is one of the greatest cities
in the world. Based in the centre of the city, we keep our fingers on the pulse
of what’s
happening and when. Lolo & Galago London is a collection of some of our
favourite things to do, people to talk to and places to hang out in the
capital.
With the new year comes a slew of new
restaurants opening across London. We pick five of the most promising to keep
you in the loop, London-style.
One of our top food trucks is finding
a permanent home in 2015, meaning you no longer need to Twitter-stalk them for
your burger fix. The new restaurant will be in the middle of Spitalfields
Market, where the van has been doing a roaring trade in aged beef burgers and
hand-cut fries. It’s simple
stuff done very well.
Opening January 2015
Ceviche brought Peruvian food to
London in a big way. Its mix of
sharing plates, cool cocktails and a buzzing atmosphere made it everyone’s go-to South American hotspot. We
love it. And we love that it is heading east, branching out from its original
Soho location to open up on old Street. There will be a dining room with
dedicated ceviche bar, Peruvian rotisserie and a pisco bar.
Opening March 2015
3.
StreetXO
Madrid foodies have been holding on
tightly to David Munoz, the chef of three Michelin-starred DiverXO, one of the
50 best restaurants in the world. His Spanish restaurant is renowned for
pushing the limits of fusion cuisine, marrying Iberian ingredients and
tradition with Asian flavours. It’s playful and really quite brilliant, and we expect similar
quality from the London outpost, which Munoz will oversee at least twice a
week.
Opening June 2015
4.
Fatty Crab
You’ll know Fatty Crab if you hang out in New York’s West Village or the US Virgin
Islands (don’t we all…). The promise of a London outpost
for Fatty’s no-fuss
focus on fine crab dishes with an Asian taste (think steamed buns, tempura,
crispy pork in addition to the famous crustaceans) has those in the know
drooling already.
Opening mid 2015
5.
Biblioteca
Long-time fans of Bob Bob Ricard’s English / Russian menu and decadent
decor, we are excited to report that the team will finally be opening another
restaurant, this time in St James. It’s going to be big and the space will include several
private dining rooms, where visitors can delight in a similar style of menu as
the original.
Opening late 2015
What are you looking forward to in
London in 2015? Which restaurants will you be waiting in line for on opening
night?
